Camouflage is an act of adaption by each individual. My work builds metaphors for the transactions around what’s shared and what differentiates individuals in a group. I am trying to express the individual stories that can take you in every direction, and also the story in the shifting patterns of the group in its environment.
The circle and the sphere exist in a rich relationship to each other and the space they occupy. Can we always be sure which is which at any given moment? They offer each other a rich, symbiotic camouflage. They also reference the individual as a participant in our complex cultures, or in a swarm of hatchling turtles. Fear of detection and exuberant flaunting contend in most worlds that I can imagine.
